In every parish of the diocese, a Pastoral Council shall be established, if the
diocesan Bishop, after consulting with the Council of Presbyters, so decides.
The pastor presides over the Pastoral Council. The Pastoral Council is
composed of members of the congregation together with those of the parish
staff who have pastoral care by reason of their office. The Pastoral Council
assists in promoting pastoral action in the parish. (Canon 536 #1)
The St. Brendan Pastoral Council meets approximately every six weeks and
began posting approved meeting minutes to this website in July 2014. Click

|R.C.I.A. Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
Are you thinking about becoming a Catholic, or are already a Catholic but
not confirmed? The R.C.I.A. is a process of spiritual growth and exploration
of our Catholic faith. It is a faith journey for adults who would like to explore
the possibility of becoming fully initiated into the Catholic Church through
the celebration of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.
We will be starting a new season in the fall. Please contact David Morris at
910-477-7055 or email email@example.com to sign up or for more
If you enjoyed the Retreat on St. Francis and Pope Francis that was given
here at St. Brendan's by Sister Jeanne Williams last March, you are invited,
along with any others who might be interested, to the next meeting of the
Franciscan Associates. We will meet in a program of study to discern, as
Catholics and followers of St. Francis and Pope Francis and using the “Signs
of the Times”, what should be our mission in the coming years. The meeting
will be held at the Village At Calabash POA Building on Wednesday, August
19 at 6:45 PM. For further information or directions please call: Pat Bueter
at 910-754-3655, Gayle Hughes at 910-575-3327, Janet Shirdon at 910-754-
4378 or Betty Parbst at 910-754-2958.
